2008 Firefighter Stairclimb a Towering Success
On Sunday, March 2, 2008 more than 1,311 firefighters from 225 departments across the United States, Canada and New Zealand competed in the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb. This unique race to the top of the Columbia Center in full combat geat and self contained breathing apparati (SCBA) is the largest individual firefighter competition in the world.
The Scott Firefighter Stairclimb supports the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, raising money through sponsorships, individual and department fundraising, and entry fees. In 2008, the event brought in a record $525,000 for blood-cancer research and patient services. We wish to thank the dedicated volunteers, sponsors and participants who came together to make the event a towering success.

About the Event
At 788 feet of vertical elevation, the Columbia Center (formerly Bank of America Tower) in downtown Seattle stands as the second tallest building west of the Mississippi. It takes 69 flights of stairs and 1,311 steps to reach the highly acclaimed observation deck overlooking the city.
